Brewing Instructions
Here is a guideline for brewing the perfect cup of tea:
Type of tea
Amount per 8 oz water
Temperature
Steep Time
Herbal (tisane)
1 tsp
Around 203 degrees F (rolling boil)
5 - 7 minutes
Oolong (green)
1 tsp
165 - 190 degrees F (light boil)
1 - 3 minutes
Brewing Tips:
-
A good cup of tea means good water. Use only fresh, filtered water for best results. Water previously heated is depleted of oxygen which is essential for the proper brew. Don't want to waste leftover water? Give your houseplants a drink!
-
For a stronger Oolong infusion, add more tea rather than steep longer. Steeping green tea longer than recommended can create a bitter taste.
-
For a stronger Herbal tea, or tisane, over-steeping can actually add to the taste of the infusion and can bring out more nutrients in the herbs.
-
Use loose-leaf tea whenever possible. Teas in individual pouches are often cut smaller, releasing essential oils, leaving a dull or bland taste. (see FAQS)
-
Use an infuser that is best suited for the blend of tea, allowing enough room for the herbs or tea leaves to expand.
